Good news for all you Sony Ericsson Xperia X10 users out there. Sony Ericsson will start rolling out Android 2.1 updates to its range of Xperia X10 phones starting Sunday, the 31st of October 2010.
All the Xperia X10 devices currently run on the ancient Android 1.6. While the update to version 2.1 is welcomed wholeheartedly, this also makes us wonder how much longer an update to Froyo would take. It would have also made sense for Sony Ericsson to skip Android 2.2 entirely and deploy Froyo instead. What say?
Anyway, as of now, its time to experience all the 2.1 goodness on your phones
The first users to get the update would be folks running unlocked, unhanded Xperia X10’s in the Nordic countries. The entire procedure of the update roll out should be done by the end of November. If you happen to own an X10, you might want to start checking for updates starting tomorrow.
Note that this update is applicable to all Xperia X10 devices – the X10, X10 Mini and the X10 Mini Pro.
