YouTube has a major issue when it comes to its view count on videos that go viral. Well, not much of a major issue actually – maybe a minor irritant. I am sure you have come across videos that have thousands of “likes” and “dislikes” – but a view count that is stuck at just 300, or 301 for a day or two. It seems very odd for a video to have just 300 views and thousands of likes. If you do not know the reason behind this, this video below would help you with the reason. Very well explained and in detail.
Now that you have watched the video, let me tell you that until now (the last time I checked) the video count was simply stuck at either 300 or 301 and you were expected to search and find out why that happens. Now though, Google has change the way the view count on these viral videos’ view would look for a few hours (after which the view count is recorded correctly). What’s the change?
This! (Dont attempt clicking to play that “video” below. It’s just a screeshot!) 😛
If you notice, the usual figure of “300 views” or “301 views” has been changed to “300+ views”. The addition of that plus sign adds a lot of clarity to the number and implies that the video has over 300 views and that the thousands of likes and dislikes below is for real and is quite plausible.
Like I said, this is not a major change and I just happened to come across this. Has anyone else noticed this? There are a couple of videos from 4, 5 days ago that say about this, though.
