Asus has been making a lot of buzz around, be it at the recent CES’15 event or its latest launches in India. Here comes more from Asus – the ZenFone C (ZC451CG). Asus has launched ZenFone C in Malaysia at RM 349 (about INR 5990). This makes it clear that ZenFone C is designed to target the budget conscious. Availability of this device outside Malaysia is still not known. ZenFone C is more of an upgraded version to Asus ZenFone 4.
ZenFone C is a dual-SIM enabled device. The device comes with a 4.5-inch IPS display and offers FWVGA (480*854) resolution. Under the body lies the same dual core Intel Atom Z2520 processor clocking at 1.2GHz which was earlier seen in the ZenFone 4. The processor is coupled with a 1GB RAM unit. It also holds the same internal memory capacity of 8GB as that of the ZenFone 4. The storage capacity of the ZenFone C can be pumped up to 64GB using microSD card. Apart from this Asus also offers 5GB of free storage on Asus’ cloud service for lifetime.
This smartphone works on Android KitKat 4.4.2 with Zen UI over the top. But there is no word on the device getting an Android Lollipop update. It sports a 5MP rear camera with autofocus feature and LED flash. The rear camera comes with a f/2.0 aperture. The front camera reads out to be 0.3MP type. Other features of the ZenFone C read out as 3G support, WiFi, Bluetooth 4.0, A-GPS, Glonass and micro-USB. When compared to ZenFone 4 in terms of battery, ZenFone C differs a lot; ZenFone 4 is powered by a 1600mAh battery but ZenFone C has a boosted battery compartment of 2100mAh.
ZenFone C cannot be said as best of Asus’ creations. But it definitely hits the mark when it comes to the budget wary users wanting decent overall specifications. Its availability in India is not certain yet but Indians have a lot of other options by Asus to choose from.
