Google Instant Arrives on iOS And Android Devices In The US

After making its debut on desktops around the world, Google has introduced its instant search capability on iOS and Android devices. While this is limited to the US currently, a worldwide launch might just be around the corner.

Google Instant, as you might be already aware gives “as you type in” search results thereby saving the overall time needed to complete search results. While we have our reservations as to the usability of Instant on small screened (when compared to full fledged PC’s) devices, there is no harm in having the feature on handhelds.

Android devices running Froyo and iOS devices on OS 4.0 or later are the minimum software requirements for Google Instant to work. Also, you need to be in the US, as mentioned earlier. With the iPad set to receive an update to iOS 4.2 later this month, Instant search would be usable on large screened devices as well. We also have Android tablets laden with Froyo that can make proper use of Instant searches.

To use Google Instant all you need to do is to navigate to Google.com on your iOS and Froyo laden devices and tap the Google Instant “Turn on” link beneath the search box.
