Side-by-Side Refrigerators in India: Our Recommended Picks (2026)

Side-by-Side Refrigerators in India: Our Recommended Picks (2026)

A side-by-side refrigerator is the upgrade many families plan around Diwali or a move to a bigger home. It is also an easy purchase to get wrong. The showroom number says 600 litres, but much of that is freezer. The “convertible” badge means something different on every brand. And a fridge that is 91 cm wide and 100 kg heavy still has to get through your front door.

This guide names the best side by side refrigerator for most Indian homes, the ones worth paying more for, and what to buy if your budget stops at Rs 50,000 or Rs 60,000. Every pick below is sold on Amazon India.

Measure your doorway before you order. Every side-by-side we recommend is 89.7 to 91.2 cm wide, 70 to 73 cm deep and about 177 cm tall, and every doorway, lift and staircase turn on the way in must be wider than its depth. The full measurements are further down.

What actually matters when buying

Real fridge space, not the total. Roughly 62 to 66% of a side-by-side is fridge and the rest is freezer. Our 600 to 650-litre picks give you about 390 to 410 litres of fresh-food space, which is still more than twice what a 236-litre double door offers. Each half is also only about half the cabinet wide, so large trays and wide boxes can be awkward. If your family mostly stores vegetables, milk and cooked food, look closely at the fridge litres and at how much of the freezer can be switched over.

“Convertible” means four different things. Haier’s two-door models can run the entire freezer as a fridge. Samsung offers five modes, including switching the freezer to fridge temperature or turning one side off. Haier’s three-door model has a separate compartment that moves between -18 C and 5 C. Godrej’s is a dedicated zone that runs only from -3 C to 5 C, so it chills but never becomes a full freezer.

Dispensers here are tanks, not plumbing. Every water or ice dispenser model in this guide draws from a tank that you fill by hand. No plumber, no water line, but someone has to refill it and clean it. Haier’s tank holds 2.5 litres. Samsung does not publish its tank size.

Compare units a year, because the stars mean less here. BEE’s star label for side-by-sides is voluntary and uses its own scale. A 3-star side-by-side uses roughly 450 to 580 units a year, while a 236-litre double door with a 2-star label uses 229. Some makers publish a label, some publish only a number and Midea publishes none. We compare the units, at Rs 8 a unit. Our BEE star ratings explainer covers how the labels work.

Read the warranty, not the badge. Every pick carries 10 years on the inverter compressor. Product cover is where they differ: one year on Samsung and Midea, two years on Haier’s own store listings, and five years on Godrej if you meet its conditions. Samsung’s 20-year compressor offer still appears on some listings, but it applied only to purchases up to 31 March 2026.

Quick answer

  • Our pick: Haier HRS-682KS 602 L, about Rs 63,680. 398 litres of fridge space, a freezer that can run entirely as a fridge, and 528 units a year. The catch: there is no published noise figure, and owner reviews on noise are split.
  • Most space and quietest on paper: Samsung RS76CG8003 653 L, about Rs 79,990. The biggest freezer here, a published 37 dBA and five convertible modes, for about Rs 16,300 more than our pick and the highest label here at 547 units.
  • Lowest running cost: Godrej Eon Velvet 646C 600 L, about Rs 69,990. 449 units a year and a five-year warranty offer. Its convertible zone only runs from -3 C to 5 C, and Godrej’s warranty terms do not mention online purchases.
  • Convertible zone: Haier HRT-683GK 598 L, about Rs 75,990. A third door with its own -18 C to 5 C setting, for up to 83% fridge space. The fixed freezer is only 102 litres.
  • Water dispenser: Haier HRS-682SWDU1 596 L, about Rs 66,990. Our pick’s platform with a 2.5-litre water tank for Rs 3,310 more. For water and ice, the Samsung RS78CG8543 633 L costs about Rs 1,10,990.
  • Under Rs 50,000: Midea MDRS710FGF46 563 L, about Rs 42,990. The cheapest side-by-side with an Amazon buy box, but with no published energy label and a one-year product warranty.

Side by side refrigerators we recommend

Haier HRS-682KS 602 L: Our pick

Haier HRS-682KS 602 L side-by-side refrigerator in Black Steel

This is the side-by-side we would buy for most families. It gives you 398 litres of fridge and 204 litres of freezer, the highest fridge share of our picks at 66%. This platform is rated at 528 units a year, about Rs 4,220 a year to run.

Its convertible feature is the simple, useful kind. The whole left-hand freezer can switch to fridge duty, which helps during a wedding, a festival or a month when you hardly freeze anything. There is also a twist ice maker in the freezer.

Its owner record is one of the best here: 4.2 stars from 607 ratings, with 10% one-star. The criticism that does appear is about noise and a few units failing within the first year, so register the fridge with Haier as soon as it is installed. Haier’s own store lists two years of product cover on this platform, while the Amazon listing says one, so keep the invoice and confirm the cover when you register.

Skip it if a quiet kitchen matters most. Haier publishes no noise figure, and the Samsung below does.

Samsung RS76CG8003 653 L: Most space and quietest on paper

Samsung RS76CG8003S9HL 653 L side-by-side refrigerator in Refined Inox

Pay Rs 16,310 more than our pick and the RS76CG8003S9HL gives you the biggest cabinet here: 409 litres of fridge and 244 litres of freezer. Samsung also publishes a noise figure of 37 dBA, the lowest of the models that give one, and owner reviews often mention how quietly it runs. This is the best choice for a large family that freezes meat or batch-cooks, or for an open kitchen next to the living room.

The 5-in-1 convertible system is the most flexible here. You can run it normally, turn the freezer into a second fridge, switch the freezer off in winter, or switch the fridge off and keep only the freezer when the family travels. Wi-Fi control through Samsung’s SmartThings app is included.

The compromises are running cost and cover. Its label reads 547 units a year, the highest here, about Rs 150 a year more than the Haier. Product warranty is one year. Owner reviews mention dents on delivery and missing egg and ice trays, so check the box contents before the installer leaves. The black version, RS76CG8003B1HL, costs about Rs 2,000 more.

Godrej Eon Velvet 646C 600 L: Lowest running cost

Godrej RS EONVELVET 646C RIT SM BL 600 L side-by-side refrigerator in Opera Blue glass

This 600-litre model, sold as the RS EONVELVET 646C RIT SM BL, is rated at 449 units a year, the lowest of any side-by-side this size in this guide. That is about Rs 3,590 a year, or Rs 630 less than our pick and Rs 780 less than the Samsung. The blue glass doors also make it the most striking fridge here.

The five-year comprehensive warranty is the other reason to consider it, but read the terms. Cover starts with purchases from 1 April 2026, you must register on Godrej’s website within 15 days, and installation must be done by Godrej’s authorised service partner. The terms list Godrej outlets and authorised dealers as the sales channels and say nothing about online purchases. Before you order on Amazon, ask Godrej’s service line whether your purchase qualifies. The extended cover also excludes glass, plastic and the outer body.

Do not buy it for the convertible zone. It is a dedicated section for chilling drinks or thawing meat, not a way to turn the freezer into a fridge. Owner reviews are among the weakest of our picks, with 18% one-star, cracked door panels and disagreement over noise.

Haier HRT-683GK 598 L: Convertible zone

Haier HRT-683GK 598 L three-door side-by-side refrigerator with convertible zone

Most families use far more fridge than freezer, and this design is built for that. The right side is a 371-litre fridge. The left side is split: a 102-litre freezer at the bottom and, above it, a third door with its own compartment that you can set anywhere from -18 C to 5 C. The fridge share is 62% with the zone frozen and 83% with it chilled.

That zone is a real working space. A Haier three-door owner on YouTube keeps it at 2 C for dairy, and Amazon reviewers single out the three-door layout. It shares our pick’s 90.5 cm cabinet and is rated at 525 units a year.

The trade-off is a small fixed freezer. With the zone set as fridge, you are left with 102 litres of freezer, less than half the Samsung’s. It also costs Rs 12,310 more than our pick, and 17% of its ratings are one-star.

Haier HRS-682SWDU1 596 L: Water dispenser

Haier HRS-682SWDU1 596 L side-by-side refrigerator with water dispenser in Shiny Silver

If cold water without opening the door is the feature your family keeps asking for, this is the sensible way to get it. It is our pick’s platform with a 2.5-litre water tank behind a dispenser on the door, for Rs 3,310 more.

You get 392 litres of fridge and 204 of freezer, conversion in both directions, a jumbo ice maker and app control. It is rated at 525 units a year. Owners rate it 4.3 stars from 544 ratings, though several mention units that arrived defective and a few report sensor faults.

The tank is the thing to think about. A 2.5-litre tank empties quickly in a large family in summer, and it needs a regular wash to stay clean. If you do not want that routine, buy the HRS-682KS and keep a bottle in the door.

Samsung RS78CG8543 633 L: Water and ice

Samsung RS78CG8543S9HL 633 L side-by-side refrigerator with ice and water dispenser

This is the pick for a home that wants ice on tap as well as water. The RS78CG8543S9HL uses the RS76’s cabinet, with a dispenser fed by a water tank and two ice makers built into the door, which keeps the freezer shelves free.

You keep 409 litres of fridge, the published 37 dBA and the five convertible modes. The freezer drops to 224 litres, and the label reads 535 units a year. The premium is steep: Rs 31,000 over the RS76 for water and ice. Amazon stock comes and goes, so it sits lower on our list.

Amazon stock for this model comes and goes. It is a current Samsung model, so if the listing shows it unavailable, check again in a few days or pick the Haier dispenser model above.

Side by side refrigerator under 60000

A side by side refrigerator under 50000 exists, but there is only one we would consider. Between Rs 50,000 and Rs 60,000 there are a few more, each with a gap in what its maker publishes. If you can stretch to about Rs 63,700, our pick is the safer buy.

Under Rs 50000: Midea MDRS710FGF46 563 L

Midea MDRS710FGF46 563 L side-by-side refrigerator in Bru Steel

At about Rs 42,990, this is the cheapest side-by-side with an Amazon buy box, Rs 20,690 below our pick. You get 352 litres of fridge and 210 litres of freezer, an inverter compressor and a portable ice maker. At 89.7 cm wide and 79 kg, this is also the narrowest and lightest fridge in this guide. It is made in Thailand by Toshiba Consumer Products for Midea India, which handles installation.

What you give up is information and cover. Midea publishes no BEE label or yearly units for this model, so we cannot tell you what it costs to run. Product warranty is one year. There is no convertible mode. It has only 60 Amazon ratings, 19% of them one-star, and owners disagree about the auto defrost. Midea’s own page mentions a water dispenser, but the model’s photo and title show none. If you want one, see the MDRS704 below.

Rs 50000 to Rs 60000: what else is in stock

  • Midea MDRS704FGF46 560 L (about Rs 51,990). The MDRS710 with a refill water tank, rated at 41 dB. The same caveats apply: no published label and one year of product cover.
  • Haier HRS-615LB 540 L (about Rs 58,990). Haier has no product page for this colour code. Its HRS-615FS sibling is rated at 490 units a year and has no convertible freezer. For Rs 4,690 more, our pick adds 47 litres of fridge and the convertible freezer.
  • Candy CSS6600KS 602 L (about Rs 51,990). Candy has no Indian product page to confirm its specifications, and the listing has only 20 ratings.

What each one costs to run

Bar chart of estimated yearly running cost at Rs 8 a unit: Godrej 600 L Rs 3,592, Haier 598 L 3-door Rs 4,200, Haier 596 L water Rs 4,200, Haier 602 L Rs 4,224, Samsung 633 L water and ice Rs 4,280, Samsung 653 L Rs 4,376, and a 236 L double door for comparison Rs 1,832

The chart multiplies each model’s yearly units by Rs 8. Your real bill moves with kitchen heat and how often the doors open, but the label is still a fair way to compare one model with another. Midea is left out because it publishes no figure.

Three sums worth doing before you pay:

  • Godrej against our Haier pick. Godrej costs Rs 6,310 more and saves about Rs 630 a year, so the power saving alone takes roughly ten years to repay the difference. The longer warranty is the stronger reason to pay it, if you qualify.
  • Samsung RS76 against our Haier pick. Rs 16,310 more to buy and about Rs 150 a year more to run. What that buys is 51 extra litres, mostly freezer, a published 37 dBA rating, five convertible modes and Wi-Fi.
  • Side-by-side against a small double door. Our Haier pick uses about 300 units a year more than Samsung’s 236-litre double door, roughly Rs 2,400 a year. It also holds two and a half times as much. Per 100 litres it uses 88 units against 97, so the bigger bill comes from the bigger box, not a less efficient design.

Will it fit your kitchen and doorway?

Size card for each side-by-side pick: width, depth and weight, with the Samsung's 61 cm depth without doors

Measure three places before you order.

  • The way in. Measure every doorway, lift and staircase turn between the road and the kitchen. The fridge is carried upright and depth-first, so each opening needs to be wider than its depth: about 70 cm for the Haiers and Midea, 72 cm for the Samsungs and 73 cm for the Godrej. If an opening is too tight, the doors can come off: the Samsungs drop to 61 cm deep without them. Ask the delivery team before the day, not at the door.
  • The space. Allow the fridge’s width plus breathing room. Makers differ here: Haier asks for 2 to 5 cm at the sides and back, while Samsung’s Indian guidance is a cautious 30 cm at the sides and top. A corner position against a wall can stop a door opening fully.
  • The swing. With both doors open, the Midea needs about 1.7 m of width, and the wider models at least as much. Make sure an island, a dining chair or a wall does not block either door.

Weight matters too: 79 kg for the Midea, 94 to 100 kg for most picks and 108 kg for the Samsung with ice and water. Check whether your building’s lift allows a load that size.

What owners report

  • Delivery damage and early faults appear for every brand here. Dents, cracked glass and units that arrive dead show up in reviews across Haier, Samsung, Godrej and Midea. Inspect the fridge before you sign, photograph any damage and register the warranty the same week.
  • Noise is the most disputed point. Samsung owners mostly call it quiet. Haier and Godrej reviews are split between “silent” and “noisy”, and one YouTube commenter blames the Godrej compressor.
  • Humidity is hard on electronics. One Samsung owner on YouTube says the control board failed twice in a single monsoon. It is one report, but it is a good reason to leave the ventilation gaps the manual asks for.

Check the model code before you pay

  • LG GL-B257HDSY is a 2-star. Amazon’s title calls it 3-star, but LG’s own label shows 2 stars at 539 units. Its HDS3 sibling is the 3-star.
  • Haier HES-690SS is not the HRS-682KS. It has the same cabinet and convertible freezer for about Rs 1,690 less, but no twist ice maker. Choose it if ice trays are enough for you.
  • Godrej colour names differ. Amazon calls the 646C “Storm Blue”; Godrej calls the same RIT SM BL code “Opera Blue”. Match the code, not the colour name.

Other models we considered

  • LG GL-B257HDS3 650 L (about Rs 82,990). Costs Rs 3,000 more than the Samsung RS76 and has no convertible mode or Wi-Fi.
  • LG GL-B257HDSY 655 L (about Rs 74,990). Cheaper than the HDS3, but its label is 2-star and LG does not list the home-inverter feature for it.
  • LG GL-L257CMC3 630 L with ice and water (about Rs 1,08,399). Sold by a third-party seller with only nine ratings, so we prefer the Samsung RS78.
  • Voltas Beko RSB585 563 L. Currently unavailable on Amazon.
  • Whirlpool and Bosch. Neither turned up as a side-by-side with an Amazon buy box. Bosch’s listing is a four-door French-door design.

FAQ

Samsung or LG: which side by side refrigerator is better? On Amazon today, Samsung. The RS76CG8003 is cheaper than LG’s 3-star GL-B257HDS3, adds five convertible modes and Wi-Fi, and has a published 37 dBA figure. LG’s advantage is a feature that runs the HDS3 from a home inverter during power cuts, which matters if outages are frequent where you live.

Is it safe to buy a side-by-side on Amazon? Yes. Most of our picks are sold by one large seller and shipped by Amazon, so delivery and returns go through Amazon. Treat delivery as an inspection, as described under what owners report.

Should I buy a side-by-side or a bigger double door? A side-by-side makes sense for a larger family and a kitchen with at least a metre of clear wall, more if a wall beside it would block the door swing. If your kitchen is narrow or your budget is closer to Rs 25,000, a double door is the better fit. Our double-door refrigerators under Rs 25000 guide covers those.

Which side by side refrigerator should you buy?

We would choose the Haier HRS-682KS. It gives most families the space they need, lets the whole freezer work as a fridge when you need extra room, and has one of the best owner records here at the lowest price of the mainstream models. Pay for the Samsung RS76CG8003 if you need a big freezer or a quiet kitchen. Choose the Haier HRT-683GK if you want more fridge and little freezer. Consider the Godrej Eon Velvet 646C for the lowest power use, but only after Godrej confirms its warranty covers your purchase.

For chilled water, the Haier HRS-682SWDU1 costs only a little more than our pick. Water and ice together cost much more with the Samsung RS78CG8543. Below Rs 50,000, the Midea MDRS710FGF46 is the only side-by-side we would consider, and you should accept its gaps before you buy.

If a side-by-side is more fridge than your home needs, our guide to refrigerators under Rs 20000 covers the smaller end.
