So, the day is finally here. In a few hours from now, Google would finally preview the much awaited Android 3.0 (Honeycomb). This latest version of Android OS, designed specifically for tablets would obviously be Google’s main tool to compete against the Apple iPad which by far, leads the Tablets race by a considerable margin. We have already seen a sneak preview of what Honeycomb would look like – thanks to the recent Android 3.0 SDK release.
That said, today could also be the day when Google would formally announce the Honeycomb and give us all a detailed look in to the OS. The Honeycomb launch conference is slated to begin at 10 AM PST (23:30 hours India), and as always, we would be taking a close look at it.
While it is being touted as a “designed for tablets” OS, even Google’s Andy Rubin has confirmed that it would also support cellphones. For the same reason, we’re wondering if they would show off some cellphones running Android 3.0. That said, let’s not forget that Google certainly has set its eyes on the iPad and with the iPad 2 slated to arrive soon so there is a chance that this conference could turn out to be complete tablet affair with no official references to Android 3.0 versions for mobile phones.
Another thing we’re all looking forward to is to see a bunch of new Android based tablets that could be displayed at the event. We have already seen the Motorola Xoom – the first of the lot. But we would love to see some of the other devices that have already been planned by manufacturers like Asus and Samsung.
Here’s the official preview video if you missed it.
Anyway, if you are the kind who would not want to miss the action live, all you need to do is to head to YouTube at 10 am PST (23:30 IST tonight) and watch the Android 3.0 presentation live.
