Samsung’s much awaited first ‘Bada‘-operated smartphone, Samsung Wave (Also known as S8500), rolls out in the market in some parts of Europe from today! Bada is the new platform on which the Samsung Applications will be developed on. Bada (“Bada” means “Ocean” in Korean) is expected to bring an ocean of applications for developers. Bada envisions “Smartphone for everyone.” With high end devices such as Wave, Bada fully utilizes the power of hardware for the ultimate application experience. Bada features a great support for in-app-purchasing, SMS integration,push notification, Flash and UI controls.
As we had mentioned earlier, about the specs, the same has been confirmed by Samsung’s website.
Here, are the specs:
- 5 MP Auto Focus Camera with LED flash,
- 1 GHz Processor,
- Comes with 3.3″ Super AMOLED display,
- FM radio with RDS,
- HD Video supporting DivX,XviD formats too,
- 2GB internal memory expandable upto 32GB,
- USB 2.0, Wi-Fi and stars Bluetooth 3.0
Also, including push E-mail, Quadband and 3G. It uses the TouchWiz 3.0. Other features like capacitive touchscreen, accelerator sensor and proximity sensor give it the finesse. No official word on the pricing yet, but we expect it to be around Rs 22,000.
The Bada OS IMO adds confusion to the Samsung lineup which already has a not so dynamic classic OS in the Corby and Star series (low end touchscreens), Androids and Windows Mobile. The only place where I expected Bada to make an impact was the low end segment where it would have proved to be a great boost for something like a Corby (which is badly missing a smart OS). Let’s be honest, this ain’t an iPhone OS or Android killer, then why make a waste attempt building high end phones with Bada?
