Google Search To Feature Real Time Tweets Soon

Google and Twitter have entered into a partnership which enables Tweets to be featured in Google Search results. The move is aimed at driving more traffic to Twitter from Google Search results. The tweets will start showing up sometime later this year and engineers from both the companies are working on making tweets available as soon as they are posted.

Google Twitter Partnership

Google was involved in a similar partnership with Twitter in 2009 but didn’t renew it once the contract expired. Since then, Google has only access to public tweets which it cannot post in real time. The new partnership with Twitter suggests that Google might be planning on relaunching the service soon. Recently, Google has taken initiatives to further improve its search experience by launching services like Flight Search in India.

The partnership with Twitter appears to be a win-win situation for both the parties. The deal will help Twitter by making it easier to get tweets in front of nonusers thus generating more traffic for the microblogging site. Twitter will also receive data licensing revenue from Google. In return, Google also aims to present meaningful trending topics to the search query through Twitter posts. It will also grant Google access to real time information in the form of tweets as important events take place.

The news of this partnership sent Twitter’s share prices up with some financial analysts seeing it as a mutually beneficial arrangement for the two companies. Twitter had earlier indicated its willingness to let search engines go through its 50,000 top hashtags and already has identical partnerships in place with Bing and Yahoo.

Nowadays, Twitter has become an important tool for sharing real time information on trending events in addition to a personal communication medium between individuals. Twitter has also found some innovative uses like the initiative by ICICI Bank in India to provide social banking services. The recent deal highlights Twitter’s growing importance and influence in the modern world.
