HTC has taken covers of the successor to the HTC Desire by announcing the Desire S along with two other handsets at the ongoing MWC at Barcelona, Spain. The Desire S features a 3.7 inch display – the same size as that on the current Desire. The camera unit too remains unchanged at 5 megapixels. The phone can also capture HD videos at 720p resolution – a now common feature. What has changed is the new aluminum unibody shell. The phone is powered by a Qualcomm MSM8255 processor clocked at 1Ghz. It gets a front facing 1.3 megapixel camera for video calling.
The phone boasts of 768MB of RAM and the battery is rated at 1450mAh. The phone will run the updated version of Android Gingerbread (2.4) when it launches in Q2, 2011.
