Indian market holds a special place in eyes of every smartphone manufacturer in the world. Launching their smartphones elsewhere and then in India has become a common trend. Huawei too has now reported to follow the same trend. It is set to launch its Honor 6 Plus in India by the end of this March. Huawei has plans to expand its customer base by targeting the budget wary segment by launching a range of budget 4G phones too. However, there is no specific list of devices that can be expected to surface.
MWC this year buzzed with a lots of interesting launches and announcements. Dragon Yin, President of Honor International Business, announced the plans at the MWC 2015. He said that this move comes as a result of warm reception in other western markets.
Turning to specifications, Huawei Honor 6 Plus sports a 5.5-inch display. It holds a 1.3GHz processor coupled with 3GB RAM. Huawei manufacturers its own Kirin chipsets and so users might not see Qualcomm or MediaTek processors in the devices. For Honor 6 Plus, HiSilicon Kirin 925 chipset is used which offers an octa-core performance. Samsung too has started similar trend of using its own chipsets for its flagship devices. GPU is of Mali-T628 type. Internal storage capacity differs as 16GB and 32GB variants. Memory capacity can be expanded to support a staggering 128GB.
Honor 6 Plus comes with dual 8MP rear cameras, which is quite rare to find devices. Rear camera unit is tagged with dual LED flash and auto-focus feature. The front camera too is of 8MP type. Connectivity features for the device include WiFi, Bluetooth, NFC, GPS, etc. The device supports 4G LTE networks. Honor 6 Plus hosts sensors like accelerometer and gyroscope. This makes the device handy for the gaming lovers. Powering the device is a 3,600mAh battery which looks quite sufficient for it.
This device is priced at CNY 2,499 which roughly amounts to INR 25,000 for dual-SIM version and the single SIM version would translate to about INR 20,000. With these range of devices, Huawei is certainly putting the Indian market high on its priority list. The launch of other 4G budget smartphones come as an extension to its previously announced plans for expanding its roots in India.
