Intex has launched another phone in India and it is called the Aqua Speed. The phone is priced at Rs. 7,444 and will be sold both online and offline. The phone has a 4.5 inch display with the resolution of 960×540 pixels. It runs on a 1.3GHz Quad Core processor and is packed with 2GB RAM. The 16GB of memory can be expanded by using a microSD card, The phone supports microSD card upto 32GB. It is a Dual SIM phone. The rear camera has an 8 Megapixel sensor while the front camera has a sensor of 5 Megapixels. The primary has an LED Flash. The phone is powered by a 1700mAh battery.
This price segment is one of the most fast selling one and most manufacturers are trying to launch phones that cost less around Rs. 8,000. In fact, for this amount one can get phones that are 4G enabled like the Lenovo A6000. So if you want a phone with 4G then the Aqua Speed is out consideration as it only supports 2G and 3G networks.
Recently Intex also released the Intex Aqua Star L which was the first smartphone by an Indian manufacturer to be shipped with Android Lollipop (5.0). But that phone is exclusively available on e-commerce site Snapdeal. It seems that manufacturers are taking updates seriously as compared to earlier where most devices never got any operating system updates.
One of the main reason for this is the stiff competition from international brands like Motorola, Asus, etc. These companies offer phones that have great value for money and they also focus on providing users with regular updates. For example, Motorola has brought out the Lollipop update for both, the first and second generation of their Moto G and are also working on the update for the Moto E which is a very reasonably priced device. All in all it is great for customers as even if they buy any device in the lower price range, there are strong chances of their phones running the latest Android version.
