Intex has launched the Aqua Star L for Rs. 6,990 and the device is the first phone by an Indian brand that will be shipped with Android Lollipop. The phone will be sold exclusively on Snapdeal, starting from today. The fact that it will run on Android Lollipop is its standout feature as many of the phones in this price range are still awaiting the Lollipop update. (Moto E is an example of this).
Android Lollipop (5.0) is the most recent version of the operating system and has a complete redesign form its predecessor, Android KitKat (4.4). Recently, a lot of devices are being sold online and even Samsung which generally prefers selling their phone in brick and mortar stores, launched the J1 exclusively on Amazon. Even though selling online helps companies offer the phone for a lower price but this model does have some flaws.
In the past one month, Intex also launched the Aqua Desire and the Iris 350 and 470 in their Iris series. All these phones are budget phones. Many Indian companies have priced their products competitively as now they not only have to fight for market share among themselves but also with international players like Xiaomi, Lenovo, Asus, etc. In this price segment, this device wil compete with the Xiaomi Redmi 1S, Lenovo A6000 and the Huawei Honor Holly.
The key specifications of the Aqua Star L are —
– 5 inch, 480p display
– 1.3GHz Quad Core processor
– Dual SIM
– 1GB RAM
– 8 Megapixel rear camera, 2 Megapixel camera on the front
– 2000mAh power battery
