Reporting rumors is a funny game. With people, on both sides of a rumor piece (author and the audience i.e.) are equally excited about what is coming up. As I began putting my thoughts together for this piece, the first idea was to list out a number of Apple rumors that have fallen on their nose, but then haven’t we all seen so many of them already?
It isn’t about the rumors, they are bound to come in, and we ourselves do report a lot of rumors coming in. But then either its the PSP phone that comes from a source as reputed as ‘Engadget’ or our own Mr Spock who has an impeccable record of hitting the target. So as I sit down and think over a dear friends advice to be cautious in the rumor game, all the blog camp talks come back to me.
Friends we live in an age of where super Internet marketers replaces journalism, bloggers going crazy over pageviews and smart companies encashing this hunger. Observing the iPod touch 3rd Gen camera rumors of various cases with a camera hole circulating, we all have learnt a lesson, haven’t we? Do you honestly think MONTHS before a upcoming tablet from Apple is officially announced, goes on sale, spoken of or touched by lesser mortals like us, there would be companies in China making cases for it? Distributing their pictures with watermarks on it?
Doesn’t it bring a little know supplier on Alibaba a lot of limelight and thus prospective business? Do you think
