Is Microsoft Entering The Social Networking Space With Tulalip? (Rumor)

Social Networking Site by Microsoft

So it seems the success of Google+ (read social networking industry) is too tempting to resist for Microsoft as well who, it seems via a slip up to be working on a social networking project called Tulalip which was seen on Socl.com for a short while before being pulled down this Thursday.

As per an official statement; it was only a mistake and that Tulalip is just an internal design project within the Microsoft Research team which got accidentally posted to the web. They have the same message flashing on socl.com for now as well. The interface looked interesting and looked like it was heavily borrowed from the Windows Phone 7 ‘Live Tiles’. Now implementing the Live Tiles on a social networking site and the possibilities it will bring along with it is certainly interesting. It also has an option to connect with using Facebook or twitter.

Though I would agree that it was definitely an accident that the page got published on the web, I certainly doubt their claims of this being just an internal design project. Personally, its would be interesting to see if Microsoft indeed comes up with a social networking site and what sort of innovations they bring to the table. Well competition in any industry is always ends up benefiting its consumers. Well I am already licking my fingers in anticipation. 😉
