In whats said to be a world first, Sharp has unveiled a Clamshell phone powered by Android. The Sharp Aquos Hybrid 007SH caters to a very small niche and the specs or design isn’t really something that would make us saw wow, but there are some uniques here. The phone is a hybrid, so you can twist the display 180 degrees and place it over the keypad to use it as a regular full touchscreen device (thats if you don’t mind the 20mm thickness). Here is a quick look at the feature set:
- Android Gingerbread 2.3
- 3.4″ touchscreen
- 854×480 resolution
- 16MP Camera with 720p HD recording
Sharp has some attractions on this with a 3D capable display and a 16MP camera (they did have some 3D promises at CES as well), but for now we doubt if this would make it outside Japan. The earlier release by Sharp in India didn’t really fly either. Anyone up for a Clamshell Android? We prefer the Galaxy pro approach over this!
