Every smartphone manufacturing company is working ardently, making the smartphone battle in India fierce everyday. Lava, an Indian company, has geared up to fight this battle with its latest launch of Lava Iris X8. Although the device is said to be ‘coming soon’ on the official website, it is exclusively available on Flipkart, from today (9th February), at INR 8,999.
Lava Iris X8 runs on Android KitKat 4.4 for now, but Lava has assured about the device getting update for Lollipop in future. The device supports dual-SIM connectivity. Iris X8 features a 5-inch IPS display providing HD (720*1280 pixels) resolution. To protect the display unit from physical damages, it sports a Asahi Dragontail glass protection. The smartphone is powered by 1.4GHz octa-core processor, but exact specifications about the chipset are not revealed yet. The processor is coupled with 2GB of RAM space and Mali450 MP GPU. Internal storage capacity of the device is 16GB. Memory capacity can be extended upto 32GB.
This device sports 8MP rear camera with LED flash and BSI sensor, while the secondary camera is of 3MP. Connectivity features provided are 3G connectivity support, WiFi, Bluetooth 4.0 and micro-USB. Battery compartment holds a Li-Polymer 2500mAh battery which looks quite good for the device. Sensors equipped in the device are accelerometer, magnetometer, proximity sensor, etc. Although the gaming geeks would have loved to have gyroscope on board making the device more gamer friendly.
Iris X8 has gesture recognition features like ‘Smart Wake-up’, to unlock the screen and other gesture controls which allows the user to jump to applications directly from the lock screen. It comes with an interesting accessory i.e an ‘intelligent flip cover’, that allows users to access applications like music player, camera, messaging, etc. without the need of using the screen. This smartphone is said to be a direct competitor for Micromax’s Yu Yureks, which is reported to be a hit in the market already. With Iris X8 promising equally impressive features at same price tag, to quite extent it can be assumed to be a hit amongst the users. Overall, launch of Iris X8 with its simple design and powerful features can be said as an attempt by Lava to gain more attention in Indian market.
