Indian handset maker, Micromax has launched the Joy X1800 and Joy X1850 phones in India. These phones are the first which will come in a candy pouch. They are entry level budget phones aimed at low budget customers as well as the ones seeking a backup device. The X1800 has already hit the markets and the X1850 will arrive in the retail stores in a week’s time.
Micromax Joy X1800 features a 4.49 cm coloured screen with 128×160 (QQVGA) resolution and durable body. It comes with a 0.8MP camera and has external expandable memory upto 4GB. The device is powered by a 750mAh battery, which the company claims will give customers up to 235 hours of standby time. The X1800 is equipped with tough and dust-proof keypad. It has bluetooth connectivity and FM radio. Besides all these features, the X1800 comes for a surprising price of Rs.699.
Micromax Joy X1850 also has the same screen size and resolution found in the X1800. But, It is powered by a much more powerful 1800 mAh battery, that is claimed by company to deliver an astonishing 25 days of back up. Rest of the features remain same as both the phones are equipped with bluetooth connectivity, external memory slot and FM Radio. The X1850 is priced at Rs.750.
It is really amazing how Micromax has managed to put in so many features with a simple design at such a low price range. With the launch of these phones Micromax has taken its tag of a budget phone maker to a whole new level.
Micromax was recently in news when Canalys crowned it as the number one smartphone maker by volume in India. Micromax, leaped ahead of South Korea’s Samsung, for the first time in the last quarter of 2014. However, if Micromax wants to stay at the top it should avoid controversies like the one around its Yu Yureka series.
