Nokia is usually very vocal when it comes to launching its affordable range of handsets in India. No surprise that considering the fact that India is a huge market for low end, entry level handsets. That is exactly why we are all surprised to see a hitherto unannounced Nokia 114 gracing the Nokia website with much aplomb. Eagle eyed GSMArena reader Vishal was apparently the first guy to spot this one.
Take a closer look at the 114 and you’d realise that the phone is basically the same as the Nokia 109 – announced a few weeks ago. There are differences of course – the major one being the presence of an extra SIM card slot on the 114. The 114 also gets a larger 1020 mAH battery (and not to mention, a shorter standby time) – a natural addition thanks to the extra SIM capability. The 114 also gets a camera at the rear which can click stuff at VGA resolution. There is video capturing ability as well – albeit at a barely watchable QCIF resolution.
The display in this device measures 4.57 cms across and gets a resolution of 160*128 pixels. There is no support for 3G on either SIMs – which is not much of a deal breaker anyway. The internal memory capacity is a decent 64 MB which can be expanded further using micro SD cards.
There is no inkling as to when the Nokia 114 will go on sale in India. But the fact that it is up there on the Nokia India website makes it clear that the launch date is not much far in the horizon.
We expect this one to be priced slightly above the Nokia 109 and it is highly plausible that these two would be launched simultaneously here in India.
