The launch of relatively inexpensive handsets from Samsung and LG might be making news, but as many of our readers have been prompt to point out, it is not as if the Indian market lacks smartphones that do not cost a bomb. If you find that difficult to believe, then just digest this: a device with a 3.2 inch touchscreen (360 x 640) display, accelerometer, proximity sensor, handwriting recognition, Mail for Exchange support, 2 megapixel camera, Bluetooth, Symbian Series 60 (5th edition), upto 16 GB memory – all for Rs 6,500. We are talking of the Nokia 5233, a handset that ain’t an iPhone by any stretch of the imagination but is very handy when it comes to most smartphone tasks like checking mail and social networks and is quite super at handling music. Not a bad deal, eh?
We reckon it is easily the best value for money smartphone in the Indian market. Of course, we would love to hear your take.
Nokia 5233 is also in the top 20 handsets – which Indians use to access mobile web /via #OperaSMW
Ah interesting. Symbian + Opera Mini is always great
I think this baby will actually be able to run Opera Mobile on it. Very good device, but Nokia is actually downplaying it as it feels that it might hit sales of other XpressMusic phones.
