Here’s some good news for all you fast dwindling breed of Symbian lovers out there. Remember the Nokia 700 and 701 handsets announced last month? Well both the devices have started shipping to dealers and are expected to land in your nearest stores in the next few days.
Note that we are not talking about rumors here. The fact the fact that the phones are indeed shipping was confirmed by the official Nokia Twitter ID on September 14. We had talked about these newly announced handsets last month in detail in this article here which you might want to take a look now.
What’s also interesting to note is that these two phones are likely to make their Indian debut too in the next few days. The Mobile Indian quotes a Nokia spokesperson who has confirmed this fact. Both the phones should be a decent addition to Nokia’s mid-range segment. Of late, Nokia’s robust mid range segment here in India has seen a lot of competition from Android powered devices from HTC, Samsung and Motorola.
One notable thing about these new devices is that they run the latest version of Symbian – the entirely redesigned Belle OS which is by far the most radical change Symbian has underwent in the ten of years of its existence. From what we have seen so far, the Belle UI does look promising – but then, we wonder if it will end up becoming a classic case of doing too little, too late.
