To increase the sales figure for Lumia 800 and 710 series of smartphones, Nokia initiated the promotional campaign titled “Amazing Money Back Challenge”, where customers who buy the said devices, can return it within seven days for a full refund if they aren’t satisfied with it.
The campaign, it seems has been activated first on Nokia India’s page, on social networking site, Facebook. All a user has to do, is to enter his/her contact details, along with the store closest to them and then wait for the store to contact them. One can also walk-in to their nearest Nokia Priority Dealer to avail this offer. We don’t need to say that, the handset can only be returned if it’s in a very good condition along with original packaging, manuals and accessories. Also, you need to return the devices to the same store, from where you got them purchased.
This may seem as a desperate attempt by the Finnish company, to push sales of the to be obsolete Lumia series of smartphones, that run on Windows Phone 7 operating system. With Windows Phone 8 on its way, and Microsoft’s statement that WP7 will not be upgradeable to WP8, this sort of move was a necessity for an OEM like Nokia, inorder to sell as many devices as possible, before the new version hits the market.
The end of Windows Phone 7 may be near, but this promotional campaign might help potential Windows Phone adopters to get hands on experience, with a peace of mind, that a refund is available, if somehow they don’t enjoy. Along with this campaign, Nokia is also trying to entice buyers by launching the Limited Edition Dark Knight Rises Lumia 800 in India.
