Nokia E6 Goes For Preorder in India; Priced At Rs. 17,999

Nokia India has announced that it will start pre-orders for its newest E Series smartphone, the E6 starting today. The E6 happens to be Nokia’s first touch and type monoblock smartphone complete with a full QWERTY keyboard and would also be the first handset that would run the latest version of Symbian^3 codenamed the Anna.

The phone would be on display at Nokia Priority stores starting today, June 15, 2011 in major cities across India. To preorder the device, you would have to log on to http://nokia.co.in/E6 and fill in a form. The form also has an option where you would be asked to a form and indicate the Nokia Priority dealer nearest to you from where you would be receiving a call within 24 hours of you submitting the form. Once you receive the call, you would need to head to the store, pay a booking amount of Rs.2000 and get your E6 booked.
Let’s now see what the E6 has in store for you. The handset is the latest Symbian^3 based smartphone from Nokia and runs the updated version of the OS. The device seems to be an apt replacement to Nokia’s erstwhile E series flasgships, the E72. That said, the E Series now does have a new flagship handset in the form of the E7. The features on this handset include a 2.4 inch display with a resolution of 640*480 which is far better than on the predecessors which had just QVGA resolution displays. This display is also a full touch screen and also gets an orientation sensor.

The E6 has a 1500 mAH battery that is rated to provide up to 14 hours of talktime on GSM. On 3G networks, this is reduced to around 7 hours. The phone has an 8 megapixel camera at the rear as well as a front VGA camera for video calling. The camera doubles up as a video recorder capable of HD recording as well. The phone gets 8GB of in-built mass memory which can be expanded using microSD cards of up to 32 GB in size.

The phone has been priced at Rs. 17,999 in India. You can also avail the installment payment facility that Nokia has made available for folks who are short on cash.
