Nokia has launched its third Lumia branded Windows Phone powered handset in India – the much talked about Lumia 610 at a launch event held at Delhi earlier today. The phone, which was first seen on the eve of the Mobile World Congress held at Barcelona back in February 2012 is seeing a rather delayed launch a good five months after it was announced.
The Lumia 610 happens to be a mid-range phone with lots of features that might interest a potential buyer. We start with the 3.7 inch TFT display which has a resolution of 480*800 pixels. The phone tips the scales at 131 grams which isn’t exactly lightweight – but ain’t that bulky either. On the design front, it might not be a sleek looker when compared to its better endowed cousins – the Lumia 800 or the Lumia 900 – but still manages to hold out on its own.
Powering the Lumia 610 is a 800 Mhz ARM Cortex A5 CPU which might sound quite dated compared to today’s dual and quad core chips – but gets the job done on Windows Phone 7. The processor is supported with a rather insufficient sounding 256 MB of RAM. We would comment on real word performance of the device only after we get a chance to use the device for some time.
The Lumia 610 supports Wi-Fi b/g/n, Bluetooth, GPS and micro USB connections. Bluetooth however is only restricted for A2DP and similar usage – and not for file transfer. Network support is comprehensive with the device able to run on Quad core GSM and 3G networks without any hitch.
Taking care of the imaging bit is a 5 megapixel autofocus camera which can also double up as a video recorder capable of taking videos in VGA resolution at 30 FPS. The device comes with 8 GB of internal memory which cannot be expanded further.
In India, the Lumia 610 has been priced at Rs.12999 and is one sale starting today.
