Nokia has unveiled the price of its forthcoming flagship device, the N8. According to an entry on the Nokia Store, the device will be available at the end of September 2010, and will come with a price tag of $549. Given the impressive specs of the device – it sports a 3.5 inch capacitive AMOLED touchscreen, a 12 MP camera capable of recording HD video, Symbian ^3 OS, every connectivity option in town (included a bundled HDMI cable) – this seems like a pretty good deal for us. Our sources in Nokia and the distributor network have confirmed that the handset is expected to retail in India for around Rs 25,000 some time next time and the $549 price tag seems to be in line with this.
Yes, there have been quibbles about the latest version of the Symbian OS and people are laughing themselves silly over the fact that Nokia has referred to support for a “capacitive stylus,” but there can be no doubting that paying $549 for a device that is a multimedia powerhouse seems far from a bad deal for us. More when we manage to get our hands on a unit.
