Handset maker Nokia and Insurance company New India Assurance have joined hands to introduce a unique handset insurance plan for Nokia devices. This plan is aimed at helping users to safeguard against risks of mobile phone theft and possible damage. The coverage is quite comprehensive in that it covers the user against mobile phone theft, burglary, malicious acts and riots. The insurance plan also safeguards the consumer against issues that usually fall out of warranty boundaries.
Nokia clarifies that when users take advantage of this insurance plan at the time of handset purchase, they would be covered against
- Accidental damage to the exterior/interior
- Damage caused by external impact on the device due to dropping and/or other deliberate action by third party.
- Damage caused by accidental entry of fluid in the device’s internal circuitry
- Loss of device through housebreaking.
- Loss of device riots, strikes and other malicious acts
- Theft of device from locked or unattended building, room or vehicle
Nokia will roll out this plan starting March 14, 2013 and would be available for all Nokia devices purchased from Nokia Branded Outlets. Initially, this facility would only be made available in the NCR, Jaipur, Mumbai, Ahmedabad, Pune, Kolkata, Chennai, Hyderabad, Bengaluru and Cochin.
The minimum insurance payment starts at just Rs.50 and will cost the user just 1.25% of the purchased handset’s value – thus making it an attractive option to consider. Those opting for insurance would need to provide a few personal details and receive an insurance certificate at the place of purchase itself.
