If we are to believe a latest report that’s coming from Finland, Nokia is apparently working on a new tablet which if all goes well might see the light of the day by the end of 2012. This would be Nokia’s first foray in to large screened, tablet sized devices ever since they phased out its Maemo based tablet range a few yeas ago.
In an interview to a Finnish magazine Kauppalehti Opio, Nokia’s design chief Marko Ahtisaari has revealed that he was spending a third of his total official time on this rumored project. He however refused to divulge any further details about the project. This latest rumor about a probable Nokia tablet comes close on the heels of another report that talked about the possibility of Nokia coming up with a Windows 8 based tablet later this year.
In related news, there are several indicators coming in from supply chain sources who have in the past said that Nokia would be using a Qualcomm dual core chipset for its tablet which is also expected to sport a 10 inch display.
Nokia CEO Stephen Elop when quizzed in the past about the probability of them coming up with a tablet had confirmed that they would hold themselves from releasing one until they could see themselves bringing something unique to the tablets space. With rumors about Nokia’s tablet springing up all the time, we wonder if Elop thinks they have hit upon something “unique”?
The interview of Marko Atihasari has not been released yet and all this information we have now is based on the excerpts from the talk he had with the magazine. Hopefully, we would have some more information on this upcoming tablet in the weeks to come.
