Nokia has earlier today issued important updates to its augmented reality application City Lens. The update has been made available to both Windows Phone 7.5 laden devices and the new Windows Phone 8 based ones. The changelog for both the applications is the same.
As expected, there are a few new feature additions to the application – the most significant of which is the new “sightline” feature. This feature lets users view only things that are in their direct line of sight. This is unlike earlier, where the application showed everything that lay in the direction you point the camera – even it was like 1500 miles away.
Another feature addition is that users would be able to see details of the places without leaving the camera view. You will also be able to freeze the image/view on the screen so the phone can be moved and shared without losing their place. The third feature addition is the one that will allow users to pin their favourite searches to the home screen.
If you happen to own any Windows Phone 7.5 or Windows Phone 8 laden smartphone lying around, you might want to try and update the app.
Initial reviews for the app seems to be very positive if we are to gy by the comments on this page. Anyway, we will reserve a judgement only after we manage to check the updated app out – which we hope to do soon
