While the latest version of Symbian, the Belle has been around for the past few months on newly launched handsets including the likes of the Nokia 603, 701 and the 700, Nokia has for some reason not released an update for its older handsets. And if we are to go by the latest reports that are coming in, the wait for the official Belle update for your E7 and the N8 would have to be extended till February 2012.
This news comes at a time when most of us were expecting Nokia to shower us with some Belle love this very month. This was partly due to the fact that back in Nokia World, they had showed us all a demo of all current handsets running Belle. That said, we might as well add that Nokia on its part hadn’t promised us about an update this month – which is why we can’t really blame them for “delaying” something that was promised.
That was until now. Folks over at All About Symbian now reports about an official statement coming in from Nokia which hints that Belle would only arrive on older phones by February 2012 – a good two months from now.
In the statement, the company states that they have received great feedback thanks to the all new user interface and that they will be releasing updates for the existing Nokia range of smartphones which include the N8, E7, X7, C6-01, C7, Oro, E6, and Nokia 500 in “early 2012”. While this official statement doesn’t categorically state February, posts seen on official Nokia Facebook pages have repeatedly talked about a possible February 2012 arrival.
That said, there have been reports about newly manufactured N8’s and C7’s coming with Belle preloaded. This however is yet to be confirmed. If that indeed turns out to be true the possible reason for the delay could be because Nokia might be working towards making the transition from Anna to Belle as smooth as possible without much issues for novice users.
