Current trend with smartphones is offering of bigger screen sizes. Such recent announcements are the Xiaomi Mi Note and Note Pro. With Oppo trying to increase its market reach, there has been a lot going on with it. After the recent launch of R1C and Mirror 3, Oppo launched the Oppo U3 phablet in China. Oppo U3 is announced without pricing information and its availability too remains undisclosed.
Oppo U3 is a dual-SIM enabled device. This device sports a 5.9-inch full HD display with resolution of 1080*1920 pixels. It is equipped with a 64-bit 1.7GHz octa-core MediaTek MT6752 processor coupled with a 2GB of RAM space. Oppo U3 also packs a dedicated audio processing chip – AK4961. Internal storage capacity reads out to be 16GB. Memory storage can be expanded up to a stagerring 128GB using the conventional micro-SD card.
Rear camera of the device is of 13MP tagged with Sony IMX124 sensor and LED flash. This primary camera, with some software tricks, is said to result images of about 50MP. Secondary snaper is of 5MP and it uses a wide angle glass. Connectivity features include 4G LTE support, GPS, Bluetooth, etc. Oppo U3 runs on Android KitKat 4.4 with Oppo’s ColorOS 2.0.1 over the top. The device is powered by a 3000mAh battery. The device comes with VOOC rapid charging technology. Oppo claims that this enables the device battery to be charged from 0 to 75% of its capacity in half an hour.
With body dimensions being 156.8*81*8 mm, Oppo U3 weighs a total of 195g. Oppo has also launched a rabbit tail case as accessory to Oppo U3. This is a regular back cover for a smartphone only to have a ball of fur attached to it.
