Samsung Mobile is all set to introduce an 8 inch version of its Galaxy Note tablet at the upcoming Mobile World Congress at Barcelona, Spain later this month. The news was confirmed by none other than the vice president of Samsung Mobile – JK Shin. Like its phablet and the lager screened 10.1 inch cousin, the Note 8.0 too would sport the S-Pen stylus. There is no inkling however regarding the specifications or a final price. That said, there are rumors of it sporting a 1280*800 pixel display, a quad core processor running at1.6 Ghz, 2 Gb of RAM and the upcoming version of Android version 4.2 according to SamMobile.
Ever since Apple announced the iPad Mini lat last year, there has been rumors about the arrival of an 8 inch display toting Galaxy Note tablet. Samsung who is used to being present in almost all market segments didn’t seem to have an apt competitor to the iPad Mini. That however was until now. The Galaxy Note 8.0 seems all set to fill that void.
News is also that this would only be slightly larger in size than the iPad Mini. The weight too would be similar with the Note 8.0 expected to weigh around 330g (the iPad Mini is 308g).
We would obviously be keeping a track of this story and let you know once the product sees the official light of the day.
