An application called ‘Untrackerd’ has been released in cydia (JailBreak Store) that cleans the data from consolidated.db file on your iDevice. (Yes the hackers community is quick!)
Why you should worry?
Researchers have discovered that traces of your visited location from your iPhone is stored in a specific file on your device, known as ‘Consolidated.db file’. If anyone gets the unauthorized access to your device will be able to know all the locations you have been till now. It could be a threat to the privacy of the user. Also, the mirror image of this file is saved in your Mac/Pc during iTunes backup.
How does the application works ?
Well, the application installs some daemons in your device that runs in the background (without affecting the battery life) and wipe up all the locationd’s based data stored in consolidated.db file. The process is repeated after a constant interval of time to maintain the privacy of the user.
The application is available for free under BigBoss repo. If you have a JailBroken device then you can get it one for yourself easily. Otherwise, wait for Apple to fix the bug through next software update.
