Apple seems to be gearing up pretty well for the holiday season with its iPad. First, the supply constraints seem to have evaporated with the Apple store shipping iPads almost instantly to US buyers. Add to that the iPod way of pushing out the iPad to stores.
Of-course, since it doesn’t come with a contract like the iPhone, it is certainly expected that Apple would go to a BestBuy, Wallmart and all other chains to sell its iPad. But what’s appealing is the fact that Apple is pushing the iPad to Verizon stores as well (along with AT&T stores). That’s certainly reaching out far to make the iPad available, right? Apple has sold 4.19 million iPads last quarter and it certainly would be a record breaking attempt to the first holiday season that iPad sells through.
Well for a long time I was thinking that Apple is trying to make the most of the holiday season and sell as many iPads as possible. However, it just occurred to me that the Samsung Galaxy Tab is getting ready to go on sale across US and the only worthy competitor it has waiting out there is the Apple iPad! The Galaxy Tab sports a smaller touch screen (and no matter what Apple says, we have case in favor of smaller screens) but makes up with a lot of other features like a camera in there.
Perhaps the last push to compete better with the Samsung Galaxy Tab for Apple is the free laser engraving it just started to offer for the iPad, and I won’t be surprised of the next release of iOS with multitasking for iPad appears just in time to welcome the Galaxy Tab.
