It might not be the most revolutionary iPhone ever. Competitors might have caught up – on specs and user experience. But it seems there is no stopping the iPhone juggernaut. Why? In just 24 hours since the just announced iPhone 5 went on preorder sale, it has managed sales of over 2 million units! This has shattered previous records held by the iPhone 4S.
Apple’s Phil Schiller announcing the phenomena sales figures said; “iPhone 5 pre-orders have shattered the previous record held by iPhone 4S and the customer response to iPhone 5 has been phenomenal.”
Apple’s sentiment was echoed by AT&T as well which has confirmed that response to the new iPhone was phenomenal and that has beaten expectations. As of now the iPhone 5 is still available on pre-order sale at AT&T. Starting this Friday the phone will also go on sale at its brick and mortar stores.
As usual, fans are expected to line up in front of Apple stores across the U.S before the launch day in the rush to become among the first owners of the new device.
During the launch event Apple said that the iPhone 5 is the biggest thing to happen to the iPhone since the iPhone and it seems at least going by initial sales figures, Apple users seem to agree!
