Yesterday we heard from Apple that the pre-order numbers for iPhone 4S crossed 1 million in the first 24 hours of opening the booking. The 4S goes on sale this week in US, UK and 5 other countries and would hit 22 more countries by month-end, clearly Apple is building momentum with the 4S roll-out. In the smartphone wars that we are seeing, touting sales figures is Apple’s old habit, Samsung jumped in recently with regular updates on SGS2 sales, which has crossed 10 million since launch.
So 1 million iPhone 4S and the reduced price iPhone 4 (8GB added as well) along with the free 3GS is doing good for Apple. While we would wait for the quarterly results to see the real impact, it is interesting to see all sorts of analyst predictions coming in already. We are already hearing over 25 million iPhones this quarter by Apple (last quarter was 20 million) and some other tidbits from analysts claim that the opening weekend could see as many as 3 million iPhone 4S being sold. Thats almost double the 1.7 million Apple did with the iPhone 4 in the opening weekend. Apple would also introduce the unlocked version of the iPhone 4S shortly, we would expect that to boost sales as well.
Details about iPhone 4S is coming out slowly, apparently the A5 processor on the iPad is clocked at 1GHz, however on the iPhone 4S it is at 800 MHz. The RAM is rumored to be the same as iPhone 4 at 512MB and of course the iOS 5 + Siri is what Apple would market as the biggest USP of the iPhone 4S. Ordered a 4S? Let us know in comments below!
