We knew this was coming in the first week of October anyway. But then, it’s always happy to hear an official confirmation. After months of speculations and rumors, Apple has finally made it official that they would be “talking” about the next generation iPhone models(s) at an event scheduled to be held on October 4. Some reports had earlier pegged the date to be October 5, and it seems Apple has preponed that by a day. Over the past week, we have warned about excessive iPhone 5 rumors and placed our bets selectively on reputed sources, like the one which predicted the October 4th Apple event.
Anyway, the event has been official christened “Lets talk iPhone” and would be held within the company’s Cupertino campus at 10 am Pacific Time. The event is likely to see the arrival of CEO Tim Cook on stage in place of the now retired, Ex -CEO, Steve Jobs.
While the Apple event is said to be for the launch of 5th generation iPhone, we expect a lot more to happen there. For example, iPod Touch 5G, new iOS 5 features like Assistant, specific details on how iCloud would work and perhaps even two new iPhones . This would be the first mega launch after the resignation of legendary Apple CEO Steve Jobs, and all eyes are on Tim Cook & Co.
Note that Apple is yet to confirm officially that they are talking about a new model of the iPhone here. It remains to be seen how many of the rumors regarding the iPhone 5 and the iPhone 4s would eventually turn out to be true. I am sure everyone, including those who do not supposedly like Apple products would be waiting with bated breath to see what the company has in store for us all.
Just a week more to go!
