Apple’s earnings call isn’t exactly a place to expect product launches, but it seems that has changed. While speaking to media and analysts on the Q2 earnings call, Apple COO, Tim Cook revealed that the iPad 2 is coming to 13 new countries next week. Given that the iPad 2 is already in 26 countries, the next 13 might well have India included.
There are two primary reasons for me to believe this. Firstly the iPad 2 is being shown on the Apple India homepage for sometime now. That’s a strong indicator. Add to that the fact that iPad 2 is already in 26 countries and the rollout to all these countries happened in March itself. With 13 more happening next week, I am being optimistic that India figures in the top 38 countries for iPad’s launch. If not, what Tim said is “we’re planning to add even more countries through the quarter”.
Given the fact that the iPad 2 retains the original pricing of the iPad 1 in US, it should arrive in India at the same rate as the original iPad back in January. Starting at Rs 27,900 for 16GB WiFi and going up to 44,900 for 64GB 3G+WiFi.
no1 told them to run n buy such an outdated product… ofcourse its supposed to hurt
