In regular fashion, presenters listed Apples achievements over the past few months and the year that passes since WWDC 2010. Given the charisma of the Apple CEO and the iPhone following, WWDC keynote is one of the most highly anticipated events of the year. For Apple there was plenty to speak about, ranging from the Macs lineup to the iPad 2 that came out in March. So here are the milestones that Apple has just announced:
- 54 million active Mac users
- 200 million iOS devices
- Mobile Install Base iOS 44%, Android 28%, RIM 19%
- 25 million iPads sold in 14 months (Includes iPad 2)
- 14 Billion Apps downloaded from App Store
- 15 million Songs sold on iTunes
- over 130 million Books from iBookstore
- 425,000 App Store apps, 90,000 iPad apps
- $2.5 Billion Paid To developers
- 225 Million Accounts (across iTunes, App Store, iBook)
- Mobile Browser Usage – iOS 64% / Android 27%
- 50m Game Center users
WWDC 2011 is still underway and we await updates on iOS, Lion, iCloud and perhaps some words on the iPhone 5th generation launch (if not a launch announcement itself). Apple isn’t expected to announce a new hardware today with a lot of software coming, but you never know when Jobs comes up with the ‘one more thing’. Many would also like to hear an update from Jobs on when he is returning to Apple fulltime, but for now we were happy to see him on stage, fit and fine!
