The Cat & Mouse game continues. As expected, Apple will release the iOS 4.3.4 to close the JailBreakMe 3.0 which uses the PDF exploit to jailbreak the iPad2. Due to the backdoor in the mobile safari which lets you download the unauthorized app, it may be possible that hackers can use it to push malwares on your iDevice. According to Germany’s Federal Office for Information Security, the malware in iPhone, iPod touch or iPad could cause serious issues for the user. Apple responded in a press event that they were already aware of the problem and the glitch would be fixed through a software update in the future.
There is no doubt that this software update will be iOS 4.3.4 ahead of the iOS 5 launch in September. It is assumed that the exploit has already been fixed in the iOS 5 beta meant only for developers. So, there is no point to show concern about the vulnerability in the final version. Comex, the person behind JailBreakMe has also released a PDF Patcher 2 in cydia to close the loophole once you are done with the JailBreak on iOS 4.3.3. If you want your iDevice to be JailBroken for life, it would be wise to backup the SHSH Blobs for iOS 4.3.3 using TinyUmbrella.
Stay tuned for iOS 4.3.4 news!
(Editors Note: Jailbreaking may void your warranty and as always in the past, we would warn of security and performance issues. You would be solely responsible for any harm caused by jailbreaks)
