Along with the new iPad 2, Apple also introduced two new, very interesting accessories for the tablet. Consumers would have the option to buy the iPad with or without these once the device goes on sale next Friday. Let’s see what these accessories are now:
Smart Cover
The SmartCover is Apple’s own case for the iPad 2. It doesn’t end there. It doubles up as a screen protector for the iPad. Since the iPad has a relatively sturdier aluminum back, Apple deems it doesn’t require as much protection as the delicate display. Apart from being just a cover, the foldable nature of the cover allows it to act as a stand for the iPad. It lets you let the iPad remain in a tilted position or in a vertical position whilst watching movies. Once you cover the screen with the SmartCover, the iPad automatically switches to sleep mode. Upon opening it again, the iPad 2 springs back to life again. Very neat! The Smart Cover would be available in leather and polyurethane versions. The polyurethane will cost $39 while the leather once will set you back by $69.
Digital AV Adapter
Apple has also announced the launch of its new Digital AV Adapter that allows the iPad 2 to connect to HDMI devices. The iPad 2 supports HDMI mirroring using which you can see the content on the iPad displayed on to an HDTV. The adaptor connects to the 30-pin iPad connector at the base of the iPad 2. At the other end, there is a HDMI cable which plugs in to your HDMI ready devices. Apart from this, there is also a second 30-pin connector to USB cable using which you can charge your iPad simultaneously while watching movies.
This accessory will cost an extra $39.
