BlackBerry Bold 9780 Launched In India

BlackBerry seems to have silently launched its latest handset from the Bold lineup in India. The Bold 9780 is now selling for Rs. 26,900 if we are to go by a tweet from folks over at Mahesh Telecom. The successor to the existing Bold 9700, the 9780 features improved hardware and a double the amount of RAM when compared to its predecessor.

Other features include a 5 megapixel camera with auto focus and image stabilization. The RAM, as mentioned earlier has been doubled from 256 MB on the 9700 to 512 MB on the 9780.  On the OS front, the phone now runs the latest  version of BlackBerry, the OS 6.

Thanks to OS 6, the phone  gets an improved web kit based browser and better multimedia support – thanks to revamped set  music and photos applications.

At 26,900 the phone is still on the steeper side if we are to look at the other options you have at the same price range.  But then, if you are a BlackBerry fan, there is no reason why you should give this one a miss.

  • You nailed it Right!! Fanboys ONLY will like this Phone.. As for the rest of the Group… Go for the Samsung Galaxy S, Nokia c7, Nokia N8 … Pay some more & go for Dell Streak… Galaxy Tab etc…

  • The worse part? You buy an overpriced phone and then pay for overpriced tariffs as well! Vodafone seems to have good BlackBerry plans though.

  • BIS399 is awesome 🙂
Though I need to upgrade my Bold 9000, would settle for a Curve though (all it does for me is email, rest is iPhone, Nokia, Samsung)
