There have been many iPhone 5 related rumors going around since the past few days. Some have said about the phone getting slimmer while others have hinted about the device getting a larger 4 inch display in lieu of the 3.5 inch one found on current generation devices. The first of these rumors started in April when it was reported that the iPhone 4 (or 4s depending on what it would end up as) will chuck its squarish industrial design and opt for a curvy look as seen on older iPhones; only, this would be slimmer and far sexier. In fact, the design leaked in April talked about a teardrop like shape for the device wherein it tapered down towards the bottom. There were also talks about it getting dual LED flash and also the capability for LTE networks.
A few months after that a few “new” iPhone 5 cases started doing the rounds of the interweb. Folks over at MacRumors got hold of these cases’ specifications and actually commissioned a designer to look in to it and based on the case and the position of the dock port, extrapolate a design for what the iPhone 5 should look like to fit in to the port. This is what he managed to produce.
Going by these case inspired renderings, it is clear that the iPhone 5 would be physically smaller than the iPhone 4 – but with a larger display. It would only be slightly wider and marginally shorter than its predecessor. This design is, however, inconsistent with other rumors that suggested that the iPhone 5 could be physically larger than the existing device – as suggested by a few leaked cases.
Another noticeable bit is the possibility that Apple might end up making the iPhone 5 even thinner than it is now. Undoubtedly aided by the tapering design, the phone could be even thinner than the iPod Touch 4G. Anyway, all these rumors will come to an end when would know for sure what the iPhone 5 would be like if Apple decides to announce the handset later this month for a possible October launch.
What do you think should the iPhone 5 look like? Like the possible new curvy design?
