Over the course of the past few weeks, we have been hearing about the imminent launch of the iPhone 5 sometime next month. It’s time we look at a few more iPhone 5 related rumors that have cropped up over the past few days. The latest ones sure sound appealing as they talk about the internal hardware/software and not just about the looks and the design of the phone.
Recently, there were reports flowing in about the fact that the iPhone 5 will use the same processor as the one found on the iPad 2. That’s right, we are talking about the powerful A5 System on Chip (SoC).
If you’re wondering where all this processing power would be used, well, lets inform you about at least one feature where it could be possibly used. We are talking about something known as the “Assistant” feature which could debut with the iPhone 5.
This from what we know so far looks to be an enhanced version of the existing Voice Control feature that allows you to talk to your phone to make calls, listen to music or even send a text. The new feature would be able to handle complex queries like understanding the meaning of a sentence. For example if I say “Send an SMS to Annkur telling him that I am very busy right now”, the phone would actually do that (assuming I have Annkur in my contacts already).
The software should also be smart enough to understand commands spoken in a casual manner – unlike now when you might require to talk slowly, in a robotic voice so that the phone can decipher your blabber. While it is too early to comment on the finer nuances of this feature, let us also inform you that at this point of time, this is just a rumor.
It remains to be seen what Apple has in store for us millions of folks awaiting the arrival of the next gen iPhone on October 5.
