Nokia has announced that it has started shipping its second Symbian^3 based handset, the C7 to costumers across the world. The C7, was unveiled at the Nokia World Conference held a few weeks ago which was mainly in the news because it was preceded by the resignations of two top Nokia Executives – Ansii Vanjokki and CEO Olli-Pekka Kallasvuo.
The C7 has A 3.5- inch AMOLED Clear Black Display and is covered with a layer of tough Gorilla Glass. (I have been shown the C7, and the screen is almost unscratchable). Features-wise, its comparable to the flagship – N8 except for maybe a lower resolution camera. But then, an 8 mega pixel shooter these days is more than enough for most.
The phone as mentioned earlier, runs Symbian^3 which now supports multitouch and”pinch to zoom” gestures in the browser and in the gallery. The C7 – like the N8 is social networking friendly and comes with Facebook and Twitter clients integrated. While Nokia says there are over 250 improvements made with Symbian^3, the look is quite similar to Symbian^1 although you will welcome the changes that the new version brings in.
The C7 is quite a sleek Looker and quite slim as well. It feels rock solid in your hands (yes, I have held it).
The BL 5K 1200mAH battery provides decent battery backup. Oh and the C7 also features the same “USB on the go feature found on the N8.
The C7 is expected to see an India launch by the end of this month. It is expected to be priced just above the Rs. 20,000 mark (hopefully) and would be a cheaper – but equally capable alternative to the N8.
