”Well, we’ve got a lot of free apps we like that, users like that, but these developers have to find a way to make some money, and we’d like to help them.”
Steve Jobs says that the need arises since the current Ad options suck (lol.) No points for guessing that Apple would host and sell the ads and share a revenue share with the developers (industry standard 60%.) iAd is built into the OS and lets users click and consume ads without having to exit an app. Now thats something no other ad network can offer on the iPhone atleast. The ads can be super interactive with video or even a game coming in without exiting the app the user was on.
Given that there would be close to iPhone OS devices out there soon, 10 ads a day on one device would translate to 1 billion Ad impressions a day. Well that’s an optimistic estimate by Apple but this is certainly a fire at Google’s plans! Would be interesting to see how things work out since app developers are banned from using location services to serve ads, which the iAd would in all probability use. Quattro has certainly landed in heaven!
mobile advertising would be the next wave of the future`~,
