Famous smartphone leaker Evan aka @Evleaks has revealed Samsung’s plan for the upcoming Galaxy S8+. Samsung has had a good run with the Galaxy S7 / S7 Edge series, however the Note 7 fiasco has been a dent on its reputation & fortunes. This makes the upcoming flagships S8 series very important for the Korean giant.
According to Evleaks, S8+ (moving away from the Edge branding?) would feature a 6.2″ display. Google has already burnt its hands with a 6″ device, the Nexus 6. They eventually moved back to a 5.7″ form factor with the Nexus 6P. In fact the Google Pixel XL moved back to a 5.5″ screen. We wonder if the market is ready for a 6.2″ phone?
Amongst other features there are the usual suspects. 4G LTE, 12MP rear camera, 8MP front camera, wireless charging, dust and water resistant etc. The RAM is expected to be 4GB with no hurry to compete with Oneplus 3’s 6GB. With no significant bump on the specs side or any major technical advantage, we wonder if there are any surprises that Samsung will present? And the million dollar question, will they do away with the 3.5 mm audio jack? This certainly isn’t the first leak about the upcoming Samsung flagships and we don’t expect it to be the last. Let’s see what new information we see in coming days and if Apple will indeed launch a RED iPhone 7 in march to steal some of Samsung’s thunder!
