Samsung to Aggressively Secure Patents in 2012

Prevention is better than cure, seems to be the mantra of Samsung. It seems that the South Korean electronic conglomerate has learnt a lesson or to, from the numerous mobile lawsuits filed against them by the California based giant Apple Inc. Samsung will be aggressively securing patents in 2012 in order to defend itself, explained the company’s CEO Choi Gee Sung, as reported by Bloomberg.

At the annual shareholders meeting, Sung said, “The electronics industry will enter a low growth period.” He further added that, “Reorganization of the industry will gain speed and competition among global players will intensify.

”Last year, Samsung had posted record breaking revenue, which was largely due to the popularity of its Galaxy brand of smartphones. The company also revealed its plan of increasing their capital expenditure to the tune of $22.2 billion, which includes the chip and panel businesses in order to widen the lead gap over its competitors.

In 2012, Samsung will be launching the successor to their flagship Galaxy S brand with Galaxy S III, that boasts of a 1.5GHz Exynos quad-core processor, 1080p high-definition display, along with a ceramic case, reported BGR. Samsung also plans to strengthen its new business of medical equipments this year.

From the looks of it, Samsung is all geared up not only for the race, but also to take the lead over its rivals in the future of 2012. But as of now, the company is dealing with lawsuits, that Apple have slapped on them in different countries.
