Even as the debate on just how good or bad the new iPhone is rages on in different tech circles, we think we noticed enough to make six bold predictions about what to expect from the fruity sounding company from Cupertino in the coming days.
- A deluge of retinal displays, gyroscopes and cameras on all are mobile devices. Yep, we are expecting both the iPad and the iPod touch to get these. Before the year is out.
- We are going out on a limb and predicting a new iPad by the end of the year. In all probability, it will coincide with the launch of iOS 4.0 for the iPad in September.
- FaceTime across all Mac devices capable of running a camera and having data connectivity. Yep, we expect it to be there on the MacBooks and iPod touches too.
- Data connectivity inbuilt into the MacBooks and MacBook Pros. What the devil do you think that fancy steel band which also doubles as an antenna indicates? We think it shows that Apple is thinking about innovative ways to embed antennae into devices. We are betting that the next generation of notebooks from Cupertino will allow you to slip a SIM (a Micro SIM, we are afraid) into them and browse the net merrily.
- More Mac OS applications on the iPad and iPhone. We have already seen iMovie and iWorks moving to these devices (iWorks will be coming to the iPhone later this year) and figure it is just a matter of time before the likes of Aperture, iLife, iPhoto and Garageband get there too. We will be cheering!
- More games. Yes, that might surprise some people, but we reckon that the inclusion of the gyroscope feature in the iPhone shows that Apple is thinking in gaming terms. How long before we start seeing high class games from the company? They might start off to show off features of the phone but will ultimately stand on their own.
Of course, knowing Stevie J, he will go right ahead and make fools of us all, but heck, this is what we think will happen. If any of it does, do remember that you read it first here.
High class games on these small devices would be awesome!
