What happens when a company known for turning consumer tech on its head posts a message on its website: “Tomorrow is just another day. That you’ll never forget.” Well, speculate like hell, especially if that company happens to be Apple. And that is exactly what the latest message splashed across the company’s website has done, adding that users should check back for “an exciting announcement from iTunes” with four clocks showing the time at which the announcement will be made – 7 AM California, 10 AM New York, 3 PM London and Midnight at Tokyo.
Needless to say, the announcement has sparked off a frenzy of speculation. Among the leading contenders for what Apple will pop at the world at those specified times tomorrow are: a new version of iTunes (with iOS 4.2), a more open version of Ping with greater integration with other social networks (and access from India, we hope), a music streaming service (hey, Apple bought Lala, remember?), Longer song samples, and well (we admit that even we think that this one is far fetched), a new kind of musical device. We strongly suspect that it is going to be all about a new version of iTunes, which will be MUCH more than a run-of-the-mill update, but of course, we will only know tomorrow. In the meantime, feel free to speculate!
Update: It seems to be the iTunes Live Streaming. But lets wait and watch!
