AT&T holds a good monopoly with the iPhone by its side since 3 years now, but rumors of multiple carriers offering the iPhone 4 is gaining momentum off late. The network issues with AT&T is largely to blame for this. Seems like Steve Jobs have had enough of the poor AT&T coverage (are they blaming ATT for the reception / death grip mess?) and they are moving to T-Mobile?
T-Mobile is a GSM operator and offering the iPhone 4 with T-Mobile won’t require any hardware changes by Apple… unlike Verizon where they would have to get a compatible chip. According to COM the negotiations are going on pretty well, and there is an 80% chance that the iPhone will come to TMobile in Q3 this year. This would be a wait and watch for us, T-mobile is the 4th largest operator in US and has less than half customer base than AT&T, they would certainly like to get a magnet like iPhone 4 to pull new subscribers, won’t they?
