Apple has drawn first blood in the battle against Nokia’s patent infringement suit against them that was lodged back in 2009 when the iOS vs Symbian war was at it peak. Back the Nokia had filed suits against Apple claiming that they had infringed upon ten of its patents pertaining to various innovations in mobile technology. The court has ruled that there were no infringements on five of these suits. This verdict though is subject to review by the ITC which has the power to block imports of products found to infringe U.S. patents.
Nokia however remains defiant and has told Bloomberg that they will go through the details of the ruling before deciding on further steps. Apple on the other hand chose to remain silent. Probably because the ruling of its own patent infringement allegations against Nokia is due on June 24 this year.
We knew it all the while that this one was going to be a slow drawn, boring battle and there’s no end in sight anytime soon, it seems!
